Punch Kick Duck: Do What the Game Says and Everyone Gets Hurt

Punch Kick Duck is another action game, but instead of a shoot-em-up, the developer went with a single-plane beat-em-up, which was a popular type of game in arcades back in the day. If you think of Irem’s Kung Fu Master, you’re on the right track.

You move your duck (or another character, but more on that later) from one stage to the next while fighting off different enemies. You only have three moves to choose from. Well, you’ve read the title, so you probably have a good idea of what the moves are. You have a high punch, a mid-level kick, and a sweep that you do by ducking.

At first, it all seems pretty easy. When a rabbit comes up to you, you punch it. When the pig rolls up, you kick it. When a long-legged weasel comes near, you give it a swipe. They come in groups, but you can handle it as long as you don’t lose your mind. Oh, and a bear is coming after you. You can’t do much against him, so it’s best to move around when you’re not fighting to stay ahead of him. When you get to the stairs, you’re free to go to the next floor. While you’re at it, don’t forget to pick up the coins that your enemies drop. We’ll talk more about those, too.

As you go up floors, things get more complicated. Some of your enemies are coming at you with carts. Some people throw bottles. You can deal with all of these things with the same set of moves, but you’ll have to learn which ones are best for which situations and when to use them. It’s such a simple system at its core, but the different enemies and ways they interact keep it feeling new. Every time you play, the enemies will be in a different order, and you can change how hard the cookie clicker game is to make things even more random. You never feel like the challenge is unfair, and if you learn how to play well enough, you can easily get through floors without getting hurt.

So, let’s talk about money and letters. You can use the coins that enemies drop for a few different things, but the most fun thing to do with them is to buy new characters. It makes sense that there aren’t a lot of characters here. Each one was made with care and looks just like the duck in the game. To get them all, you’ll have to play a lot, so you’ll have something to work towards for a long time. When you unlock a character, a short animation of the character coming out of a box is shown. This is a lot of fun. Even though the game play stays the same, it’s fun to change the way things look. If you lose in the middle of a stage, you can also use coins to keep going. That’s less fun, but you can do it if you like.

How does it make money? The base game is free, but if you want to keep it that way, you’ll have to watch some ads from time to time. If you’re tired of the required ads, you can pay $2 for an in-app purchase (IAP) to get rid of them. If you want to spend more, you can buy a few extra characters one at a time for a few dollars each. You can also watch ads on your own time to get more coins. This is a good idea if you want to unlock characters faster and don’t mind watching ads. All of it is pretty good, especially by today’s standards.

Let’s talk about the presentation, which is really cool. The game looks and sounds great, and both its art style and how well it works are appealing. Shoot the Moon stood out because of how well Shaun Coleman made the characters look and feel like real people, and here, he does it even better. It looks like a cartoon, and I really like it. Oh, and you can play the game in either portrait or landscape mode, and it works just as well either way.

The only bad thing about the cookie clicker 2 game is something that most beat-em-ups have. If you really settle in for a long session, you might find that it gets a little boring after a while. As someone who likes the genre, it’s rarely a problem for me with good ones, and I do think Punch Kick Duck is one of the good ones. But I do know that some people don’t like the constant fights with enemies and their endless twins and sisters, and if you’re one of those people, you might not like this game very much. The good news is that you can try it for free, so, you know, try it.
