introduction

Every trip features breathtaking scenery. Every journey includes bits that, we must confess, are a touch shoddy. However, even with your sharpest critical eye, these flaws are difficult to detect on the Buran Ghati trek hike.

You will not be disappointed at any stage during this journey. It’s as if someone took the greatest bits of our Himalayan climbs and knitted them together to create one flawless adventure.

The trip begins at the historic town of Janglik, which is reminiscent of the “untouched by civilization” settlements found on the Har Ki Dun trek. The trail climbs out of Janglik, through a beautifully dense woodland, and finally into the Dayara meadows. Most hikers come to a halt here, their lips open at the awe-inspiring beauty of Dayara Meadows.

You leave Dayara expecting the meadows to be over, and you couldn’t be more mistaken. The path to Litham is surrounded by woodlands and meadows. And then there’s the Dunda. If any campsite can provide you with the beauty of an alpine mountain zone as well as the thrill of a spectacular climb to come, Dunda will be among the best.

On the other side of the pass, Barua is a lovely old settlement that is reminiscent of Hobbiton from Lord of the Rings. It’s an universe unto itself, with old houses, fruit-bearing trees, and alleyways.
